Should Schools Open With COVID?
Updated: Feb 18, 2021
With COVID, most schools have decided to shut down. But, my school has opened back up.
Of course we have taken all the necessary precautions, from using hand sanitiser, to washing hands, and even wiping all the desks down in between class periods. But is this really the right thing to do?
Family’s are now coming back from trips to see relatives, or even just going on vacations. This means that there is bound to be a surge in COVID cases. At this point the world’’s healthcare workers are on their knees begging for us to stay in quarantine to stop the spread.
I understand that kids are getting itchy to see the outside world again, but if leading officials say that it’s bad, then it's on a whole new level. Everyone wants life to be normal again (myself included), but if we don’t take the necessary precautions that leaders have given us, it's going to get worse, and the few schools that are open will shut down.
Besides the vaccine is almost here and we are all in the final stretch. If we make things even worse now the vaccines will be harder to distribute and we’ll all be in quarantine longer.
So until the vaccine is distributed I don’t think schools should open back up. (This is coming from a kid who loves school.) But what do you think? Comment down below!
