Fortnite... is Dead?

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

In 2017 a game named Fortnite Battle Royale launched. It was a third person shooter game that immediately caught success. It had everything a regular shooter game had, but also something different: building. Building was a complex mechanic that at first, no one understood.

Pretty soon Fortnite's popularity went off the charts. This mostly had to do with the quality updates that the game had, as well as popular streamers coming to the game.

In 2018, Fortnite hit its peak. Everyone knew what the game was, and everyone played it. After a while, Fortnite fell a bit, but that's completely understandable considering, it was still one of the most popular games in the world.

Late 2018 and early to mid 2019 was smooth sailing, until one terrible day came upon us: August 1st, 2019. This was the day that sent Fortnite into turmoil. This was the day that introduced the worst update ever: The Mecks. The Mecks were robots that you could find when you played the game. They were overpowered, completely unfair, and worse sent tons of players and streamers off Fortnite.

In later updates, the game attempted to save itself from death. While some updates were terrible, with others truly extraordinary the current state of the game is: meh. It isn't the game it once was, but has redeemed itself from the awful Mecks.

So what do you think of Fortnite: is it dead? Not dead? Why or why not? Discuss in the commetes below!
